history

Deycimont appeared in the archives of the Chapter Remiremont in 1232 under the name Deceimonte . The settlement of the area of today's community goes back to the time of the Celts - as evidenced by coin finds, at least in Gallo-Roman times. In 1594, Deycimont was part of the Bailliage of the Vosges and the bailiwick of Bruyères . The parish Deycimont belonged from 1790 to the deanery Bruyères ion of the diocese of Épinal.

Earlier spellings of the place were Décimont, Deycymont, Decii and Deyecimont Mons . There are several theories about the origin of the name: Dei Jacum Coementium (God's stone domain with reference to the Fournel rock formation ). Another interpretation is based on the name Deciacus or Decii Jacus Mons (an elevation called Decius north of the core town). In the 19th century, the variant of the ten mountains (decem montes) was favored in the municipality.
