La Haye is a French commune with 115 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipal association Épinal .
geography
La Haye is located at an altitude of 360 m above sea level, eleven kilometers northwest of Bains-les-Bains and 25 kilometers southwest of Épinal in southern Lorraine.
The 7.34 km² municipal area covers a section of the Vôge landscape . The Ruisseau des Cailloux rises on the north-western border of the municipality and forms a valley up to 200 m wide, on the southern slope of which the La Haye settlement was created. The stream flows into the Côney , a tributary of the upper Saône , in the east of the neighboring municipality of Harsault . In the north-west, the municipal area reaches a few hundred meters from the source of the Saône in Vioménil. In a strip that extends far to the west, the highest point in the municipality is reached at 461 meters above sea level.
The area around La Haye is used partly as arable land, partly as pastureland, while forests dominate in the north ( Forêt Domaniale du Ban d'Harol ), in the west ( les Tailles ) and in the south ( Miche-Guerré ), which in total over a third cover the parish area.
The Bazin farm in the southwest of the municipality belongs to La Haye .
Neighboring communities of La Haye are Harsault in the east and south-east, Gruey-lès-Surance in the south-west, Grandrupt-de-Bains and Hennezel in the west and Vioménil in the north-west.
history
The name La Haye cannot be verified before 1611. Until the French Revolution, the area of today's municipality belonged to the bailiwick of Vesoul in Franche-Comté , in 1790 it moved to the newly formed canton of Bains-les-Bains in the then Darney district . In 1831 the school and mayor's house ( Mairie-école ) was built, and in 1868 the church of St. Augustine.
