history
The place was mentioned early in 1159 as Moironcourt in a deed of donation from Henry I, Bishop of Toul , to the Abbot of Chaumousey .
The village of Maroncourt used to be closely connected to today's neighboring municipality of Hagécourt; both belonged to the property of the Dukes of Lorraine and the Chapter of Remiremont . In 1594 Maroncourt came to the Bailiwick of the Vosges, was later under the provost of Dompaire / Valfroicourt and belonged to the Bailiwick of Darney from 1751 until the French Revolution .
Ecclesiastically, Maroncourt was part of the parish Hagécourt in the deanery Poussay of the diocese of Toul . The parish registers were kept in neighboring Valleroy-aux-Saules.

Economy and Infrastructure
The small village consists of four farms and the associated residential and stable buildings as well as a small mayor's house ( Mairie ) built in 1790 . There are three farms in the village (dairy farming, cattle breeding). There is no church or chapel (the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Hymont is responsible for Maroncourt ), so it is a purely agricultural ensemble.
The D 40 road runs through the village from Hagécourt to Velotte-et-Tatignécourt . There is a connection to the D 166 from Épinal via Mirecourt to Neufchâteau, which has been partially expanded to two lanes . In the nearby municipality of Hymont there is a stop on the Merrey – Hymont-Mattaincourt railway , which is operated by TER Lorraine .
