history

The name of the village first appeared in a document as Tirocourt in 1088. In the time of the Ancien Régime Thiraucourt belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt and was subject to the high jurisdiction of the dukes of Lorraine . Nothing has survived from a castle built in 1736. One of the owners of the Thiraucourt fief, awarded in 1736, was François Violet de Saint-Victor . His wife, Élisabeth de Genter , was buried at the entrance to the church choir in 1767. A son of the family, Balthazard de Saint-Victor , sold his property in Thiraucourt to the Bassompierre family on the eve of the French Revolution . Ecclesiastically, Thiraucourt was under the women's monastery of the Remiremont chapter . The parish belonged to the diocese of Toul and to the deanery of Porsas. The Saint-Lambert church was reconstructed in the 18th century. The first town hall and school building ( mairie-école ), which also no longer exists today , was built in 1842.
