history

The place was first mentioned in 1109 as Ruver in a document. The municipality has had the landscape designation in its name since 1801. In the Ancien Régime the village belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt . The rule over Rouvres was divided: parts of the place belonged to the lords of Bassompierre in Baudricourt , a small part belonged to the lords of Châtenois , who were directly under the king. The Abbot of Chaumousey also had sovereign rights in Rouvres. During the French Revolution, Rouvres was the capital of the 6th canton in the Mirecourt district. In 1832, the municipal area was enlarged by a piece of forest that was previously an enclave of the Baudricourt municipality. The church, dedicated to Saint Eliphius , was part of the Poussay deanery within the diocese of Toul . The current church dates from 1856. The mayor's and boys 'school building was built in 1833, the girls' school followed in 1836.
