The municipality of Domvallier is located in the southeast of the Xaintois , about 35 kilometers northwest of Épinal . The landscape around Domvallier is hilly and characterized by grain fields. With the Bois du Bas de Puits , the municipality has around 20 hectares of woodland in the south. The highest point in the municipality is reached here at 377 m above sea level.

South of the village center, the Cochon flows into the Val d'Arol , a tributary of the Madon . In the far north of the municipality, the Épinal-Mirecourt airport is connected , which is operated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Vosges department ( Chambre de commerce et d'industrie des Vosges ). Parts of the commercial area at the airfield (slaughterhouse, go-kart track) are located on the territory of the municipality of Domvallier.

Neighboring municipalities of Domvallier are Juvaincourt in the north, Puzieux in the northeast, Ramecourt in the southeast, Mirecourt in the southeast, Thiraucourt in the south and Baudricourt in the west.

history

The place was first mentioned in the 12th century as Domviliacum . Over the centuries the spelling changed via le fiei de Donvaleir, Curatus de Dompno Valerio, Dompvalier, Donvalier, Donvalley and Dompavillier finally to Domvallier . In the Ancien Régime Domvallier belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt . The parish was part of the deanery Poussay within the diocese of Toul . The first school building in the village was built in 1848. Instead of the old dilapidated chapel, a new church was built from 1857 to 1859. Parts of the old chapel were used in the construction of the sacristy. The donations for the church building were no longer enough for a spire. Another attempt in the period between the world wars to erect a spire failed due to the statics of the substructure.
