La Chapelle-aux-Bois is a French commune with 668 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipal association Épinal .
geography
The approx. 30 km² municipal area of the municipality of La Chapelle-aux-Bois is an average of 430 meters above sea level and extends on the high plateau of the Vôge , which is interrupted by the valleys of the small Côney tributaries Ruisseau de Bagnerot and Ruisseau Jeandin . The rivers belong to the Saône / Rhône catchment area. The landscape in the municipality is characterized by fields and meadows, in the south and east there are contiguous forests. The Canal des Vosges forms the north-western border of the municipality.
La Chapelle-aux-Bois includes the districts of Fieuzé, Gremifontaine, Hardémont, Haudompré, La Forêt and Les Grands Prés .
Neighboring communities of La Chapelle-aux-Bois are Xertigny in the north and west, Le Clerjus in the south, Bains-les-Bains in the south-west, Les Voivres in the west and Harsault in the north-west.
history
The nucleus of today's community was a chapel from the 14th century, which was built between the hamlets of Hardémont, Haudompré and Grémifontaine.

Economy and Infrastructure
Granite used to be quarried near La Chapelle-aux-Bois. There are 38 farms in the municipality (cereal cultivation, dairy farming, horse, cattle, poultry, pig farming). In addition, the inhabitants live from forestry (beech, oak and pine) or commute to the nearby towns of Bains-les Bains and Xertigny.
The D 4 trunk road ( Bains-les-Bains - Mirecourt ) and the 434 national road ( Épinal - Vesoul ) run through the municipality of La Chapelle-aux-Bois . The Nancy - Belfort railway line , operated by the TER Lorraine company, runs southeast of Chapelle-aux-Bois, and Xertigny station is about three kilometers from the center of the municipality.
