The Tavistock Group is a mid-1970s, founded by British billionaire Joseph "Joe" Lewis private international investment firm with headquarters in the small town of Windermere near Orlando ( Florida ). It has offices in Argentina, the Bahamas, China, Mexico and Europe. Joe Lewis' daughter Vivienne Lewis is currently part of the company's management.
Investments
Tavistock's best-known investment properties include:
- the English football club Tottenham Hotspur
- the Czech football club Slavia Prague
- the German sporting goods manufacturer Puma
- the English small-series sports car manufacturer Bristol Cars (entry 1997, bankruptcy 2011).
However, these holdings represent only a small proportion of Tavistock's total portfolio. Tavistock had a short-term investment in the Scottish football club Glasgow Rangers in the early years of the 21st century . Joe Lewis' interest in professional football is said to have been aroused by his friend, actor Sean Connery .
Other investments include vacation and golf resorts, hotels, financial services, restaurants and fashion. In line with the founder's interests, many investments are associated with golf . The company headquarters is embedded in a golf course.
In early 2008 the group lost estimated about 1 billion USD in the collapse of US investment bank Bear Stearns .
Tavistock Cup
Tavistock also supports golf tournaments and has held the PGA- sanctioned invitation tournament Tavistock Cup every year since 2004 . Teams from the Tavistock-owned Isleworth Golf & Country Club and Lake Nona Golf & Country Club play against each other. Participants in the tournament in March 2009 included Tiger Woods , Ernie Els , Mark O'Meara and Robert Allenby , some of whom are also involved in the marketing of other projects by the Tavistock Group.
The prize pool for the winning team at the 2009 event was $ 3.5 million, of which $ 1 million was donated to a charity chosen by the winners.
Welfare
Joe Lewis' subsidiary Vivienne Lewis Tavistock Foundation supports charities primarily in locations where the group has major investments, such as a cancer center in Orlando near the company's headquarters.
