Windermere is a city in Orange County in the US state of Florida with 2,462 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Windermere is about 10 km west of Orlando .
history
In 1888 the Florida Midland Railway was opened, running from Lake Jesup via Clarcona and Windermere to Kissimmee . In 1896 the company was incorporated into the Plant System . Further owners were subsequently the ACL (1902-1967), the SCL (1967-1986) and CSX (since 1986).
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 2462 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 1152 households. The population density was 610.9 inh / km². 94.2% of the population identified themselves as white , 1.4% as African-American and 3.0% as Asian Americans . 0.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.1% to several ethnic groups. 5.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 27.1% of all households lived in 37.4% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 80.6% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.78 people and the average family size was 3.12 people.
29.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 12.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 36.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 46 years. 51.4% of the population were male and 48.6% were female.
The median annual income was $ 120,938, with 7.6% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.88% of the population, 4.89% spoke Spanish and 0.23% spoke German .
