The Orange County is a county in the state of Florida of the United States . The county seat is Orlando .
geography
The county has an area of 2601 square kilometers, of which 251 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Seminole County , Brevard County , Osceola County, and Lake County . Together with Lake, Osceola and Seminole Counties, the county forms the Greater Orlando metropolitan area .
history
Mosquito County was formed on December 29, 1824 from parts of St. Johns County. In 1845 it was renamed Orange County after the fruit that was planted here and the marketing of which brought people simple prosperity. Today there are no longer any commercially operated orange plantations in Orange County, but there are still a few packaging and processing companies that source the oranges from southern Florida.
Historical objects
- Orlando is home to the historic Tinker Building . It is located there at numbers 16-18 on Pine Street , and is listed as a National Monument (NRHP 80000957).
- In Winter Park is the 1995 National Register of Historic Places captured Woman's Club of Winter Park . It is located on Interlachen Avenue at number 419.

As of the 2010 census , Orange County had 1,145,956 people in 487,014 households. The population density was 487.6 people per square kilometer. Ethnically, the population was composed of 63.6% white, 20.8% African American , 0.4% American Indian and 4.9% Asian Americans . 6.8% were members of other races and 3.4% of different races. 26.9% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 35.0% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 19.4% of all households. 64.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.19.
27.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 31.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 14.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 49.2% of the population were male and 50.8% were female.
The median income for a household in the 48,429 USD , while 16.3% of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the mother tongue of 67.43% of the population, 22.59% spoke Spanish and 9.98% had another mother tongue.
