The Santa Rosa County is a county in the state of Florida of the United States . The county seat is Milton .

The county has an area of 3,040 square kilometers, of which 406 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by Escambia County to the west and Okaloosa County to the east . Together with Escambia County, the county forms the metropolitan area of Pensacola .
history
The Santa Rosa County was formed on February 18, 1842 from parts of Escambia County. It was named after Rosa von Viterbo , a saint of the Roman Catholic Church.

According to the 2010 census , Santa Rosa County had 151,372 people in 64,707 households. The population density was 57.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial population was made up of 87.8% white, 5.4% African American , 0.9% American Indian and 1.8% Asian Americans . 1.1% were members of other races and 3.0% of different races. 4.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 24.5% of all households lived in 35.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 73.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.59 people and the average family size was 2.99 people.
26.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 50.5% of the population were male and 49.5% were female.
The median income for a household in the 57,491 USD , while 11.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the first language of 92.99% of the population, 3.39% spoke Spanish and 3.62% had another mother tongue.
