Jay is a city in Santa Rosa County in the US state of Florida with 533 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Jay is about 40 km north of Milton and about 60 km north of Pensacola .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 533 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 281 households. The population density was 130 inhabitants / km². 95.1% of the population identified themselves as whites , 0.8% as African American , 1.7% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 1.5% said they belonged to several ethnic groups. 2.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 32.9% of all households lived in 34.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.47 people and the average family size was 2.96 people.

28.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 46.2% of the population were male and 53.8% were female.
