Milton is a city and also the county seat of Santa Rosa County in the US state of Florida with 8826 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Milton is about 20 km northeast of Pensacola on the west bank of the Blackwater River .
history
Milton was founded as a city in 1844 , making it one of the oldest cities in Florida. The railroad age in Milton began in 1883 with the opening of the Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad . They created a continuous rail link between Pensacola and Jacksonville .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 8,826 inhabitants were distributed over 4,075 households. The population density was 781.1 inh / km². 77.4% of the population identified themselves as whites , 13.9% as African American , 0.7% as Indians and 2.2% as Asian Americans . 1.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.0% to several ethnic groups. 4.8% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 25.7% of all households lived in 32.0% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 62.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.43 people and the average family size was 3.03 people.
27.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 19.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 35 years. 48.1% of the population were male and 51.9% were female.
The median annual income was $ 40,963, with 11.6% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 96.53% of the population and 3.57% spoke Spanish .
