Thomas Brent "Boo" Weekley (born July 23, 1973 in Milton , Florida ) is an American professional golfer of the PGA TOUR .

Career

Weekley became a professional golfer in 1997 and initially played on smaller tournament series. In 2002 he qualified for the PGA TOUR , but could not assert himself and played the second-ranked Nationwide Tour from 2003 to 2006 . In 2007 he was again eligible to play for the PGA TOUR and since then Weekley has won three tournaments. He won the Verizon Heritage in both 2007 and 2008, temporarily making it into the top 50 of the golf world rankings , which secured him the right to participate in majors and the high-value events of the World Golf Championships tournament series.

Weekley represented the United States with Heath Slocum at the 2007 World Cup at Mission Hills Golf Club . The two failed only in the jump-off against Scotland and took second place. In 2008 he played for the first time in the Ryder Cup team in the USA, which won its first cup since 1999.

He owes his nickname Boo to the cartoon character Boo Boo , a bear from the TV series Yogi Bear .
