Web.com tour
The Web.com Tour is the second level tournament series of the North American PGA TOUR for male professional golfers. It was once founded under the name Satellite Tour .
history
The previous Satellite Tour was taken over by the PGA TOUR in 1990 and was originally called the Ben Hogan Tour in honor of golf greats . There were 30 tournaments at the time with the usual prize pool of $ 100,000. This tour was later named after the respective sponsors Nike Tour , Buy.com Tour and Nationwide Tour and so the series was named since June 2012 for the next 10 years after the Internet company Web.com Group, Inc. , based in Jacksonville , Florida .
Tournaments
There will be 25 tournaments in the 2015 season, seven of which are outside the USA (Canada, Brazil, Colombia (2 ×), Panama, Chile and Mexico). The prize money of the tournaments ranges between $ 500,000 and $ 850,000 per event in the regular season and $ 1,000,000 for the final four tournaments (finals). This is about a tenth of the level of the PGA TOUR . Otherwise, the same competition conditions apply as for the top tour, i.e. stroke play over four days and 72 holes, with a cut after 36 holes. For the third and fourth round, the best 65 and equal ranked golfers qualify. The field of participants comprises 144 or 156 players, the winner receives - as with the PGA TOUR - 18% of the total exchange.
Qualification mode
Since this tour is a lower level - second level - you can qualify for the top level PGA TOUR here . You also need to qualify for the Web.com Tour yourself. The qualification mode was fundamentally changed in 2013 after the PGA Tour began its year-round tournament series in the fall of each year.
- Qualification for the PGA Tour
The best 25 players of the regular season are automatically qualified for the PGA Tour of the following season. In addition, 25 additional players can qualify according to the results of the subsequent four final tournaments ("final season"). The best 75 players of the regular Web.com Tour including the already qualified golfers as well as the players in positions 126 - 200 of the PGA Tour are qualified for this final series. In addition, non-members of the PGA Tour can also participate if they have collected enough points at the PGA tournaments to occupy places 126 - 200 on the regular PGA Tour. The final order of the 50 starting places to be allocated for the PGA Tour is based on the combined results from the prize money of the regular season and the final season. The first of this ranking list receives full PGA Tour participation and automatically the invitation to the PLAYERS Championship for the next season.

For the Web.com Tour itself you qualify via a multi-stage qualification series (in 2015 there are 4 qualification rounds) in which 156 participants are eligible to play in the final tournament. The winner of this tournament has full start authorization for the entire following Web.com Tour, the players in the following places receive graded start authorizations.
