The Seminole County is a county in the state of Florida of the United States . The county seat is Sanford .
history
Seminole County was formed on April 25, 1913 from parts of Orange County . It was named after the Seminoles who used to live here .
geography
The county has an area of 893 square kilometers, of which 95 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Volusia County , Orange County, and Lake County . Together with the Counties Lake, Orange and Osceola , the county forms the Greater Orlando metropolitan area .

According to the 2010 census , Seminole County had 422,718 people in 181,231 households. The population density was 529.7 people per square kilometer. Ethnically, the population was composed of 78.2% white, 11.1% African American , 0.3% Native American and 3.7% Asian Americans . 3.7% were members of other races and 2.9% of different races. 17.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 33.5% of all households and people aged 65 or over in 22.4% of all households. 67.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.55 people and the average family size was 3.05 people.
25.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 38 years. 48.4% of the population were male and 51.6% were female.
The median income for a household in the 58,577 USD , while 10.8% of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, 81.85% of the population spoke English as their mother tongue, 12.52% spoke Spanish and 5.63% had another mother tongue.
