Wekiva Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) in Seminole County in the US state of Florida with 21,998 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Wekiva Springs is directly adjacent to the towns of Longwood (east) and Altamonte Springs (south) and is about 15 km southwest of Sanford and about 10 km north of Orlando . The CDP is affected by Interstate 4 and Florida State Road 434 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,998 inhabitants were distributed over 9,452 households. The population density was 982.1 inh / km². 90.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 2.7% as African-American , 0.1% as Indians and 2.9% as Asian Americans . 1.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 9.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 29.2% of all households lived in 33.0% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 73.5% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.96.

24.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 33.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 45 years. 48.0% of the population were male and 52.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 75,784, with 4.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 93.18% of the population, 4.60% spoke Spanish and 2.12% had another mother tongue.
