Black Hammock borders Lake Jesup in the north , the city of Oviedo in the south and is around 15 km southeast of Sanford and around 20 km northeast of Orlando .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 1144 inhabitants were distributed over 413 households. 90.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 2.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.7% to several ethnic groups. 9.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
