Fern Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Seminole County in the US state of Florida with 7,704 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Fern Park is directly adjacent to the towns of Altamonte Springs (west), Casselberry (east) and Maitland (south, Orange County ). The CDP is located around 15 km south of Sanford and around 10 km north of Orlando and is crossed or touched by US Highways 17 and 92 ( SR 15 , 600 ) and Florida State Road 436 on a shared route .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 7704 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 3814 households. The population density was 1453.6 inh / km². 83.2% of the population identified themselves as whites , 8.2% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 1.8% as Asian Americans . 3.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.4% to several ethnic groups. 16.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 25.6% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 32.3% of all households. 59.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.27 people and the average family size was 2.89 people.

20.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 43 years. 48.7% of the population were male and 51.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 52,798, with 8.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 85.42% of the population, 12.91% spoke Spanish and 1.67% had another mother tongue.
