Lake Mary is a city in Seminole County in the US state of Florida with 13,822 inhabitants (as of 2010).
In August 2007, Money Lake magazine named Mary the fourth best place to live in America .
geography
Lake Mary borders the city of Sanford and is around 25 km north of Orlando .
history
Lake Mary was first connected to the railroad network by the South Florida Railroad in 1880.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 13,822 inhabitants were distributed over 5,728 households. The population density was 619.8 inh / km². 84.5% of the population identified themselves as white, 5.0% as African-American , 0.3% as Native American and 6.0% as Asian Americans . 1.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.5% to several ethnic groups. 10.2% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010, children under the age of 18 lived in 33.9% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 25.7% of all households. 73.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.01.
25.1% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 20.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 43 years. 48.5% of the population were male and 51.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 83,921, with 7.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.74% of the population, 6.16% spoke Spanish and 1.10% had another mother tongue.

On February 11, 2004, the Lake Mary Chamber of Commerce Building was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .

Lake Mary is crossed by Interstate 4 and touched by US Highways 17 and 92 ( SR 15 , SR 600 ) on a shared route . The nearest airport is Orlando Sanford International Airport (around 3 miles east).
Lake Mary is a SunRail station on the DeBary route via Orlando to Poinciana . There is a connection to the Amtrak long-distance trains at Winter Park station .

The crime rate in 2010 was 124 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There was one rape, one robbery, 22 assaults, 67 break-ins, 251 thefts and eight car thefts.
