Winter Springs is a city in Seminole County in the US state of Florida with 33,282 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Winter Springs is bordered by the cities of Oviedo , Longwood, and Casselberry . The city is located on Lake Jesup, which forms part of the St. Johns River . Sanford is 5 km north and Orlando is 15 km south of the city.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 33,282 inhabitants were distributed over 14,052 households. The population density was 894.7 inh / km². 86.6% of the population identified themselves as white , 5.5% as African-American , 0.3% as Native American and 2.6% as Asian Americans . 2.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.4% to several ethnic groups. 15.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 lived in 33.8% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 25.0% of all households. 72.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.97.

25.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 32.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 47.9% of the population were male and 52.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 69,542, with 7.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 87.38% of the population, Spanish was spoken by 10.28% and 2.34% had another mother tongue.

The urban area is used by the US Highways 17 and 92 ( SR 600 ) and from the Florida State Roads 15 , 417 ( Central Florida Greeneway , toll road), 419 and 434 crossed or touched. The Orlando International Airport is approximately 30 km south of the city.

crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 118 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There were five rapes, nine robberies, 42 assaults, 112 break-ins, 278 thefts, 22 car thefts and one arson.
