Altamonte Springs is a city in Seminole County in the US state of Florida with 41,496 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Altamonte Springs is adjacent to the towns of Maitland ( Orange County ) and Casselberry . The city is about 15 km south of Sanford and 10 km north of Orlando .
climate
The climate is mild and warm, light with a light wind from the sea. Statistically, it rains an average of 30% of the days in the summer months, even if only for a short time. The highest temperatures are in May to October, with up to 33 ° C. The coldest months from December to February with an average of only 12 ° C. Snowfall is almost unknown in the region.
history
Altamonte Springs was first connected to the railway network by the South Florida Railroad in 1880. Another route was the Florida Midland Railway , opened in 1888 , which ran from Lake Jesup via Altamonte Springs and Clarcona to Kissimmee . When the plant system took over the route in 1896, the Lake Jesup - Clarcona section was closed.
