The Winter Park Station is a railway station in long-distance traffic and is used by Amtrak operated. It is located in Winter Park in Orange County , Florida .

history

The passenger station was built in 1913 by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). As early as 1880 a first railway line was built by the predecessor company South Florida Railroad from Sanford to Orlando and ten years later a railway depot was built on this route in Winter Park. After the ACL merged with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1967 , the station continued to be operated by the new Seaboard Coast Line Railroad .

Until 2005 the station was a station of the Sunset Limited of the Amtrak railroad company from Orlando to Los Angeles . However, after the effects of Hurricane Katrina , the line was shortened to the New Orleans - Los Angeles route.

Connection

The train station is right in downtown Winter Park. There is a connection to the buses of the bus company Lynx .

In addition to the Silver Meteor , Amtrak's Silver Star will also stop in Winter Park today .

Since May 1, 2014, the station has also been served by SunRail on the route from DeBary via Downtown Orlando to Pine Castle , which means that the Greater Orlando conurbation is better served by local rail transport. On July 30, 2018, an extension of this line in the south to Poinciana was opened.
