Greater Orlando is a metropolitan area in central Florida . It is also called the Orlando metropolitan area or (mainly for statistical purposes) Orlando – Kissimmee – Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area . The largest cities in the metropolitan area are Orlando , Kissimmee and Sanford . The US Office of Management and Budget counts Lake , Orange , Osceola and Seminole counties in the region.

The 2010 census counted 2,134,411 residents. This makes Greater Orlando the third largest metropolitan area in Florida and ranked 26th nationwide. The land size is 10,390 km².

Furthermore, Greater Orlando will be combined with MSA Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach to form the CSA Orlando-Deltona-Daytona Beach , which also includes the Counties Flagler , Sumter and Volusia . In 2010 it had a total of 2,818,120 inhabitants.
