The metropolitan area of ​​Gainesville (English: Gainesville metropolitan area ) is a metropolitan area in the center of the US state Florida . It represents a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) defined by the Office of Management and Budget and includes the counties of Alachua and Gilchrist . The city of Gainesville represents the center of the agglomeration area .

At the time of the 2010 census , the area had 264,275 residents.
