The Treasure Coast is a stretch of coast on the east coast of the US state of Florida . The area includes Indian River , Martin and St. Lucie counties . Martin and St. Lucie Counties constitute a metropolitan area that is maintained for statistical purposes by the Office of Management and Budget under the name of Port St. Lucie, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area . The Indian River County corresponds to the independent metropolitan region of Sebastian-Vero Beach .

The largest cities in the area are Port St. Lucie , Fort Pierce and Sebastian . Name derives (Engl. Treasure = "treasure") was the sinking of the Spanish silver fleet in 1715.

At the time of the 2010 census , the area had 424,107 residents.
