The Liberty County is a county in the US state of Florida of the United States . The county seat is Bristol . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county covers an area of 2,184 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Gadsden County , Leon County , Wakulla County , Franklin County , Gulf County, and Calhoun Counties . It lies between the Ochlockonee River and the Apalachicola River to the west. The county is located in the Panhandle of Florida and is one of the last populated areas of Florida.

Liberty County was formed on December 15, 1855. It was named after what people value most - freedom.
Parts of the 1,936 designated National Forest Apalachicola National Forest extend County.

According to the 2010 census , Liberty County had 8,365 people in 3,295 households. The population density was 3.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. Ethnically, the population was composed of 77.3% white, 17.9% African American , 1.1% American Indian and 0.2% Asian Americans . 1.9% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.7% of various ethnic groups. 6.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 26.1% of all households lived in 36.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 70.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.05.
23.5% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 31.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 60.9% of the population were male and 39.1% were female.
The median income for a household in the 39,225 USD , while 22.2% of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2010, English was the mother tongue of 94.66% of the population, 4.76% spoke Spanish and 0.58% had another mother tongue.
