Lockhart is a census-designated place (CDP) in Orange County in the US state of Florida with 13,060 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lockhart is directly adjacent to the towns of Altamonte Springs (north, Seminole County ), Eatonville (east) and Orlando (south). The CDP is crossed or tangent to by US Highway 441 ( SR 500 ) and Florida State Roads 414 and 434 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,060 inhabitants were distributed over 5,741 households. The population density was 1155.8 inh / km². 63.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 22.7% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 3.7% as Asian Americans . 5.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.2% to several ethnic groups. 21.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 19.4% of all households lived in 34.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 66.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.63 people and the average family size was 3.13 people.

26.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 14.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 49.7% of the population were male and 50.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 46,892, with 16.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 82.24% of the population, 15.04% spoke Spanish and 2.72% had another mother tongue.
