Taft is a census-designated place (CDP) in Orange County in the US state of Florida with a population of 2205 (as of 2010).

history

Taft was first connected to the railroad network by the South Florida Railroad in 1881.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 2205 inhabitants were distributed among 884 households. The population density was 848.1 inh / km². 77.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 8.9% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 2.4% as Asian Americans . 7.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.5% to several ethnic groups. 32.2% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 38.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 22.5% of all households. 70.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.88 people and the average family size was 3.32 people.

28.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 14.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 51.6% of the population were male and 48.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 41,328, with 21.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 86.59% of the population and Spanish spoke 13.41%.
