Southchase is a census-designated place (CDP) in Orange County in the US state of Florida with 15,921 residents (as of 2010).

Southchase is directly adjacent to Orlando in the northeast . The CDP is affected by the Florida's Turnpike (SR 91) and the Central Florida GreeneWay (SR 417).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 15,921 inhabitants were distributed over 5,548 households. The population density was 899.5 inh / km². 55.7% of the population identified themselves as whites, 14.0% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 11.0% as Asian Americans . 14.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.8% to several ethnic groups. 48.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 50.4% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 18.4% of all households. 83.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.26 people and the average family size was 3.51 people.

30.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 28.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 11.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 48.7% of the population were male and 51.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 57,643, with 11.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 67.59% of the population and 32.41% spoke Spanish .
