Lorna Shore is a five-piece deathcore / death metal band from New Jersey formed in 2010 .

history

Lorna Shore was founded in New Jersey in 2010 by singer Tom Barber, guitarist Adam De Micco, bassist Gary Herrera and drummer Austin Archey. In the meantime, Connor Deffley was recruited as the second guitarist in the band. In the founding year, on October 8, 2010, the first EP, Triumph, was released, which was recorded and published independently. The EP Bone Kingdom , released on February 16, 2012, was also financed out of pocket.

On February 14, 2014, the group was signed by Density Records , and on March 18, 2014, the third EP called Maleficium was released. At the same time, the group announced a support tour for Carnifex , which took place between February 21 and April 20, 2014 in the United States . The group was booked as a replacement for Betraying the Martyrs , who had to cancel their tour in the meantime. Between May 27 and 29, 2014 the band played three concerts as the opening act for Upon a Burning Body . About a month later, the group played a twelve-concert tour as the opening act for Within the Ruins . In September of the same year the band played concerts with The Black Dahlia Murder .

Between 3 and 22 March 2015, the group toured as the opening act for Fallujah along the West Coast of the United States . One day later, the band performed the first concert as part of Oceano's Ascendants Album Release Tour , which ended on April 3, 2015 after eleven shows. On April 19, 2015 Lorna Shore played on the main stage of the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester , where they shared the stage with Sworn In , I Declare War , Vanna and Motionless in White , who also played on the same day.

On June 9, 2015, the band's debut album, called Psalms , was released via Density Records. The album was produced in The Machine Shop by Will Putney , who has already recorded albums for Thy Art Is Murder , Fit for an Autopsy and Upon a Burning Body. The group should also play on the fifth edition of the annual Metal Alliance tour , where Deicide , Hate Eternal and Entombed AD were also announced. However, the band canceled their participation after completing a few shows, as there were several deaths within the families of the musicians. In October and November 2015, the group played a tour in Europe for the first time. Lorna Shore played in the opening act for Carnifex . In January 2016 the group played again in Europe, this time as opening act for Aversions Crown and Rings of Saturn . In February and March 2016, the group supported Chelsea Grin on their Desolation Of Eden tour .

In the meantime, the band signed a record deal with Outerloop Records , a sub-label of Fearless Records, and then moved into the studio with producer Carson Slovak to work on the successor to Psalms . The second album is called Flesh Coffin and is scheduled for February 17th, 2017. During this period the band will tour North America together with Carnifex and Rings of Saturn as part of a two-month tour. In phases, Despised Icon , Fallujah and She Must Burn will also be seen on this concert tour.

In 2017 Gary Herrera left the band.

In April 2018, Tom Barber announced that he would join Chelsea Grin as the new lead singer and replace Alex Koehler, who had left the group for health reasons, which resulted in his departure from Lorna Shore. As a replacement, CJ McCreery, who was previously active as a singer with Signs of the Swarm , was announced as the new lead singer at Lorna Shore. With This Is Hell beginning of September was released the first song with a new singer.

In January 2019 the band announced that Connor Deffley is no longer part of the band. They separated amicably. In October of the same year it was announced that Lorna Shore have signed with Century Media and will release their third album with Immortal in 2020 . In December 2019, Andrew O'Connor was confirmed as the new guitarist. Soon after, the band announced that they had kicked CJ McCreery from the band after allegations of sexual abuse and racism were raised against him. In January 2020, the group announced that they would release the album on January 31st with the soundtrack of former singer McCreery as planned. The European tour with Decapitated in March will also continue.

style

Lorna Shore's music is described as deathcore , which combines the technical demands of Whitechapel with the brutality of Thy Art Is Murder .
