Entombed AD [ ɛnˈtuːmd eɪ.diː. ] ( . English , buried 'or' Buried 'and Anno Domini , Latin for "in the year of our Lord") is a Swedish death metal - band from Stockholm , in 2014 the band Entombed emerged after the former members Lars Göran Petrov , Nico Elgstrand, Victor Brandt and Olle Dahlstedt had recorded a new album without Entombed founding member Alex Hellid, who claimed rights to the band name.

The Entombed album Back to the Front should be released on October 25, 2013 . Before that, the band had fired Alex Hellid, guitarist and founding member of Entombed . However, Hellid asserted naming rights to Entombed , which he owned proportionally like the other founding members. The planned album could not appear due to the legal dispute and was held back by the Century Media label . Only after the remaining members renamed themselves Entombed AD could the album be released in 2014, ten months late. The band has since played under the name Entombed AD , while the original band name Entombed may no longer be used. Alex Hellid dedicated himself to his own projects such as the orchestral performance of the Entombed album Clandestine .

The debut of Entombed AD appeared finally on 1 August 2014. Back to the front was by various reviewers as a seamless continuation of the sound of Entombed viewed. The RockHard reviewer wrote: “Apart from the name change, many things remain the same with the Swedes: both the guitar sound and LG Petrov's vocals continue to shape the characteristic sound image. The songs meanwhile offer “best of both worlds”, in other words: they skilfully oscillate between old-school death and the death'n'roll elements that have become dear to the past. ”The Metal Hammer attested:“ Most noticeable on BACK TO THE FRONT however, is the fact that Alex Hellid's absence simply goes unnoticed. This is how Entombed sound, whether with or without “AD”. ”In general, however, the work was also characterized as lacking in variety and lacking real highlights. With the album, the band went on festival tour from the second half of 2014, for example at Party.San in August and at Metal Hammer Paradise in November. In between, the band toured with Grave and Repuked .

The band released their second album on February 26, 2016 via Century Media. Dead Dawn was generally rated better by the reviewers, including significantly more Thrash- heavy and lively. The Metal Hammer wrote: “In 2016 the Death Metallers compensated for the restructuring, have grown together and are concentrating again on their core competencies.” To promote the new album, the Europe Blasphemia 2016 Tour followed together with Behemoth , Abbath and Inquisition and then the Jomsviking North America Tour together with Amon Amarth and Exmortus . Later that year, the band toured Europe with Voïvod on the Dead Dawn European Tour . Another North American tour followed in January 2017 with Full of Hell and Turbid North .

In 2016 the band announced that they would be working on a third album. In the spring of 2018, bassist Victor Brandt left the band and joined Dimmu Borgir instead . Since then, Tobias Christianson von Grave has taken over his position for live performances . For the third album Bowels of Earth , which was announced on May 14, 2019 and was released on August 30, 2019, videos for the songs Torment Remains and Elimination were released in June and July 2019 . The former live guitarist Guilherme Miranda has been a permanent member of Entombed AD since 2018.In October and November 2019, the band will go on a Hell over Europe III tour with Aborted and Bæst to promote the new album.

style

Entombed AD play old school death metal with little variation. "Much has stayed the same: The dark and sometimes positive-rancid guitar riffs, the heavy, thundering drums and, above all, the brutal growling of LG Petrov."
