Thy Art Is Murder (also abbreviated TAIM ) is an Australian Deathcore - band from Sydney .
history
Thy Art Is Murder was founded in 2006 by singer Brendan Van Ryn, the two guitarists Gary Markowski and Sean Delander, as well as bassist Josh King and drummer Lee Stanton in Sydney . The first demo This Hole Isn't Deep Enough for the Twelve Of You was released in 2007 and consists of three pieces. The group was able to build a fan base in the local deathcore scene in Sydney . In 2008 the group went to the studio where the EP Infinite Death was recorded. This received attention for the misogynistic lyrics and titles.
In the same year Van Ryn was kicked out of the band after internal differences with the other musicians. The group searched for a new lead singer for almost a year, who could be found in Chris "CJ" McMahon. McMahon previously played in local metalcore band Vegas in Ruins . The group founded McMahon's entry into the band because of his impressive singing. Shortly before work on the debut album, bassist Josh King was replaced by Mick Lowe. This was published in 2010 and is called The Adversary . Canadian deathcore band Despised Icon have announced that the group will tour with The Red Shore to support the Australian concerts.
In 2011, Gary Markowski and Mick Lowe had to leave the group after it became known that they had stolen from the rest of the band's musicians. Sean Delander changed instruments and became the group's new bass player, which allowed Andy Marsh and Josh Brown to join Thy Art Is Murder as new guitarists. In 2012 they played for the first time outside of Australia on the "Great Days Of Wrath Tour", including with War from a Harlots Mouth and As Blood Runs Black , which led across Europe. The group flew to New York to record the second album with Will Putney. This is called Hate and was released internationally on October 19, 2012 via Halfcut Records. The first single, Reign of Darkness , was released on September 18, 2012. It rose to number 35 on the Australian charts and lasted for a week. It has since been announced that the group have signed with Nuclear Blast . In February, the band toured Europe again with the Mexican deathcore group Here Comes the Kraken . On April 5, 2013, Hate was re-released by Nuclear Blast. The group entered a competition where the winner could win a slot as an opener for the Summer Slaughter Tour. Although the Rings of Saturn group won the contest, Thy Art Is Murder was also included in the official line-up. The reason was that there was only one percent between the two groups. Rings of Saturn said in their statement that "it would be fantastic to include Thy Art Is Murder in this year's tour lineup". The US concert tour, organized by Ash Avildsen - the founder of Sumerian Records - in 2013 consisted of The Dillinger Escape Plan , Animals as Leaders , Periphery , Norma Jean , Cattle Decapitation , The Ocean , Revocation , Aeon , and Rings of Saturn and Thy Art Is Murder. The first USA concert tour followed in November as a headliner. I Declare War , Fit for an Autopsy , The Last Ten Seconds of Life and Kublai Khan appeared as opening acts . In the summer, the group played on a European tour at several music festivals, such as the Graspop Metal Meeting , With Full Force and the one-time Parkway Drive Open Air . Before the shows in Europe, the band played a tour of Australia , which was accompanied by Cattle Decapitation, Aversions Crown and King Parrot .
In January and February 2014 the group again traveled through Europe. Heart of a Coward , Aegaeon and Aversions Crown were the opening acts . The group was originally supposed to perform at the Soundwave Festival in Australia . However, the organizer of the tour excluded the band for the time being because they had asked the fans to destroy the barricades, ignore the security forces and instead storm the stage with the band. After a conversation between the organizer and the band, Thy Art Is Murder were allowed to perform. In June 2014 Thy Art Is Murder played in Trier at the Summerblast Festival . This was followed by a North American tour with Born of Osiris and Betraying the Martyrs in October and November. The group completed their last tour of the year with Suicide Silence and Fit for an Autopsy in Europe.
At the end of the year the group moved into the studio to work with Will Putney on the third studio album. This is called Holy War and was released worldwide on July 26th, 2015 via Nuclear Blast . From May 23rd to 25th, 2015 the group played all three shows of the Slam Dunk Festival . Two concerts with Emmure followed immediately . On December 21, 2015, singer Chris Mcmahon announced that he was leaving the band for family reasons. The band's statement announced that Nick Arthur, singer of the deathcore band Molotov Solution , would take McMahon's post for the European tour with Parkway Drive . This took place between January 22, 2016 and February 17, 2016.
On January 20, 2017, Thy Art Is Murder announced on their Facebook fan page that Chris "CJ" McMahon had returned to the band. The fourth studio album Dear Desolation was released in the middle of 2017 . Together with the Polish band Decapitated , Thy Art Is Murder was booked to co-headline the Double Homicide Tour , which was to take place between August 21 and September 23, 2017 in the United States and Canada . After the musicians of Decapitated were arrested by the Special Victims Unit on September 9 after a concert in Santa Ana , California on suspicion of first degree abduction, the rest of the tour was canceled. Nevertheless, the band continued the North American tour.
On July 26, 2019, the band's fifth album, Human Target , was released via Nuclear Blast . The singles Human Target , Death Squad Anthem and Make America Hate Again were released with music videos beforehand. On the day the album was released, the fourth single was New Gods . It is the first album with Jesse Beahler on drums , who replaced the previous drummer Lee Stanton. There was a world tour for the album.
