The Slam Dunk Festival is a multi-day music festival that has been taking place since 2006 and takes place in Leeds , Hatfield and Wolverhampton . The organizer is the British label Slam Dunk Records .
history
The festival was first held in Leeds in 2006 . The host is the local label Slam Dunk Records , which gained national fame by signing You Me at Six . It was held in Millennium Square, Leeds with Fall Out Boy , The Academy Is… , Thursday , Hundred Reasons , Capdown , The Hush Sound and Hellogoodbye .
The site was enlarged in the second year. The festival moved to the railing of the Student Union of the University of Leeds . However, the second festival was also held with a stage on which seven bands played again. It played among other things, Reel Big Fish , Mad Caddies , You Me at Six and Paramore on the Slam Dunk of 2007.
On May 25, 2008 the festival was expanded to four stages on which a total of 28 groups played. There were, among others, The Blackout , Cute Is What We Aim For , Boys Like Girls , Kids in Glass Houses , Story of the Year , Zebrahead , Attack! Attack! , Twin Atlantic , We Are the Ocean and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus .
Just one year later, two more stages were added, so that the participating artists were distributed over six stages. It played Hey Monday , Anti-Flag , Silverstein , Hollywood Undead , Young Guns , Devil Sold His Soul , Sonic Boom Six , Hundred Reasons and Glamor of the Kill .
In 2010 the festival took place over two days for the first time. However, the two days of the festival took place at different locations. In addition to the grounds of the University of Leeds , the Slam Dunk was held for the first time at the University of Hertfordshire . The cast of the artists remained identical. It played on eight stages, including New Found Glory , Alkaline Trio , Four Year Strong , Against Me! , Skindred , Rolo Tomassi , Set Your Goals , RX Bandits , Breathe Carolina , The Wonder Years , Your Demise , Millionaires and Get Cape. Wear cape. Fly .
In 2011 the Slam Dunk Festival took place at both locations. For the first time, the festival was made a little smaller. The number of stages has been reduced to seven. This year Reel Big Fish , Mayday Parade , Less Than Jake , Framing Hanley , Dance Gavin Dance , Yashin , While She Sleeps , Bury Tomorrow , Shadows Chasing Ghosts and Lower Than Atlantis played at the festival. The festival was also downsized in 2012. Only four stages were set up on which Architects , Every Time I Die , Cancer Bats , Of Mice & Men , Funeral for a Friend , Motion City Soundtrack , I See Stars , The Word Alive , Gallows , The Story So Far and Make Do and Mend occurred.
Since 2013 the festival has taken place in three locations over three days. Wolverhampton was added . The number of stages was increased to seven again. Between May 25 and 27, 2013, All Time Low , Pierce the Veil , Sleeping with Sirens , The Summer Set , Tonight Alive , The Early November , Memphis May Fire , Woe, Is Me , Hands Like Houses , House vs. Hurricane , Senses Fail , Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! and Jonny Craig . For 2014, The All-American Rejects , We Are the In Crowd , Zebrahead , Bury Tomorrow , Letlive , The Ghost Inside , The Devil Wears Prada , Crown the Empire , Caliban , I Killed the Prom Queen , Modern Baseball , Chiodos , Landscapes , The Ataris and Neck Deep confirmed. The festival took place between May 24th and 26th, 2014.
