The Starting Line is an alternative / pop punk band from Churchville , Pennsylvania .
Band history
The band got to know each other mostly through the internet . Guitarist Matt accidentally discovered the AOL profile of the then 14-year-old singer Ken while surfing in 2000 and wrote him an e-mail about his favorite bands asking if he didn't know someone who would like to sing in his band.
What was originally intended as a pure fun project aroused the interest of the small indie label Drive Thru Records in the same year through concerts and internet marketing . This recognized the potential of the band and offered them a contract.
Thanks to the help of his parents and teachers, Ken graduated from high school early and Matt managed to finish college . Then they went on tour, u. a. as support for Sum 41 , Taking Back Sunday and Good Charlotte .
After two label changes to Geffen Records and Virgin Records , the album "Direction" was released in 2007.
