Bassist Marc McKnight sang for the first time on A Death-Grip on Yesterday . A few months later, the band separated from their long-time label Victory Records and switched to Hollywood Records . To say goodbye to Victory Records, their last video, The Theft, will be released under Victory Records in October 2006 . There was also a best of release.
On August 28, 2007 the band released their album Lead Sails Paper Anchor , with the first single, which has the same name as the planned following US tour Becoming the Bull .
On October 23, 2009 their new studio album Congregation of the Damned was released.
From 2011 to July 2014 the band took a break. On July 1, 2014, the band announced on their Facebook page that they would be making music together again.
On May 11, 2013, the band asked their fans to share a post on Facebook if they wanted to hear a new Atreyu song. In a subsequent post they stated that they would like to make this song available for free and that it would be a song in the style of the album "The Curse".
