Cancer Bats is a Toronto- based Canadian hardcore band strongly influenced by southern rock .

Band history

The band was founded in 2004 in the Canadian city of Toronto by the later singer Liam Cormier and the guitarist Scott Middleton. Middleton had previously played with the metal band At the Mercy of Inspiration . After brief line-up changes, the band was complete with the other two members Joel Bailey on bass and Mike Peters on drums. In January 2005, the band's first self-produced demo CD followed. Appearances and tours followed, where Cancer Bats, for example, with Canadian hardcore punk greats Alexisonfire , Comeback Kid and others. a. played together. The band is housed by the Canadian independent label Distort Entertainment and has toured several times since 2007 with the melodic hardcore band Rise Against . In 2009 they toured with Silverstein on Billy Talent's Billy Talent III tour . In 2010 they were the opening act for Bullet for My Valentine .

style

Her style is often described - also by herself - as an explosive mix of hardcore, southern rock and punk rock . There are also metal elements in the group's music. The bands Refused , Black Flag , Led Zeppelin and Down are often mentioned as influences of the group . Black Sabbath are such a big influence for the band that they play concerts under the name Bat Sabbath mainly in Canada with only Black Sabbath covers.
