Comeback Kid are since 2002 existing hardcore punk band- from Winnipeg , Canada .
history
The band was founded in 2002 by singer Scott Wade together with the band's later guitarist, Andrew Neufeld. Then with Jeremy Hiebert from Andrew's actual band, as second guitarist, and Cliff Heide and Kyle Profeta for bass and drums, the band was completed to play fast, melodic hardcore punk .
After the first appearances and the first demos, the contract with the Californian label Facedown Records followed in March 2003. This was followed by the release of the first long player Turn It Around . After that, the group toured a lot, including with Terror , Throwdown and Every Time I Die .
The second album Wake the Dead ( Victory Records ) was recorded in late 2004. But there you can no longer hear Cliff on bass. He found a replacement in Kevin Call. Before the album was released, Comeback Kid were already on tour again.
In 2006 they toured with other hardcore and metalcore bands, such as Sick of It All , Madball , Walls of Jericho and Terror , also through Germany as part of the Persistence Tour.
In 2007 bassist Kevin Call announced his departure from the band during the Never say die tour. Matt Keil now takes his place. In January 2012 the guitarist Casey Hjelmberg left the band after six years. He is replaced by Stu Ross from the pop-punk band "Living with Lions". In May 2014 drummer Kyle Profeta left the band, his successor is Jesse Labovitz.
style
Roughly summarized, Comeback Kid are based on classic old-school hardcore punk with melodic vocals and guitar riffs, with occasional new-school influences. The overall picture as a melodic band of the "old school" is not particularly affected.
Lyrically, Comeback Kid don't explicitly see themselves as a political band, but (left) political issues play a role. Otherwise, the group's texts are mostly about everyday feelings, sadness and love.
