This Is Hell is an American hardcore punk band from Long Island , New York that was formed in 2004.

history

The band was formed in June 2004 from the breakup of two bands and consisted of Scraps-and-Heart-Attacks singer Travis Reilly, as well as The Backup Plan members Joe Osolin (electric guitar), Jeff Tiu (electric bass) and Dan Bourke (drums). Rick Jimenez joined the cast as the second guitarist. The band's name was derived from a song by Elvis Costello . The band recorded a demo, 1,000 copies of which were sold, so it was re-released as a self-titled EP through Run for Cover Records in 2004. 500 copies of this EP were sold. A self-titled EP, which included six songs, followed in 2005, which was released on State of Mind Records . Performances with Most Precious Blood , Donnybrook and Modern Life Is War followed in August . In November followed appearances together with Blacklisted and Cancer Bats . After The Backup Plan was revived in 2005, Tiu and Osolin left the band. Johnny Moore joined the band as the new bass player, while Chris Reynolds played the electric guitar. Then in spring 2006 the debut album Sundowning was released on Trustkill Records . In 2008 the next album followed with Misfortunes on Trustkill Records. Then the band switched to Rise Records , which released the albums Weight of the World (2010) and Black Mass (2011).

style

The band played classic New York hardcore in their early days . In their newer works like Black Mass the Thrash Metal influences become stronger, so that comparisons with bands like Leeway and Metallica are drawn.
