Cricket

Cricket has only been Olympic once so far . Although it was supposed to be held at the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 , the only team sport planned there was canceled due to a lack of participation.

On August 19 and 20, 1900, the only cricket game in Olympic history took place in Paris . England ( Devon County Wanderers ) won the two-day game against France ( Standard Athletic Club ) with 157 points - according to the score card it was even one point more.

Cricket , which is particularly widespread in the Commonwealth , has not been played at the Olympic Games since then, and the Commonwealth Games have only been played once in 1998 . However, since the establishment of Twenty20 cricket, which only lasts a few hours, the ICC has been discussing the possibility of applying for future Olympic Games.
