history
In 1995 the IOC decided to include the sport in the Olympic Games. This was associated with great criticism within the sport from the part of the riders, because the responsibility for the qualification was transferred to the FIS, although the sport had already had its own association with the International Snowboarding Federation for several years . The FIS started its own series to the exclusion of the ISF and laid down new rules that were adapted to those of the skiers. The internationally most successful driver at the time, Terje Håkonsen , then refused to take part in the 1998 Games in Nagano. In 2011 the FIS and the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour came into conflict because of the newly introduced slopestyle discipline . The TTR had already integrated this discipline into the competition calendar years earlier, but the IOC again transferred responsibility to the FIS, although the association had very little experience in this area. The IOC rejected a proposal for a joint qualification series with the FIS.
