Speed skating at the Olympic Games
Speed skating has beenpart of the program of the Winter Olympics since the first Winter Olympics in 1924 . Competitions for women have only existed since the 1960 Winter Games , after they were held as a demonstration in 1932.
There are currently six disciplines each for men and women. The most recent discipline is Team Pursuit , which was added at the 2006 Games .
