Short track at the Olympic Games

Short track

Shorttrack has beenpart of the program of the Winter Olympics since the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . Before that, it was held as a demonstrationat the 1988 Winter Olympics .

The Olympic disciplines for men and women include the 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and the relay. The relay is held over 3000 m for women and 5000 m for men. The 3000 m for women and men were only held as a demonstration competition in 1988.

The sport is dominated by teams from Asia and North America, with South Korea being by far the most successful. Of the 70 South Korean medals at the Winter Olympics so far, 48 medals have been won in the short track. Similarly, 33 of the 62 medals won so far in China come from the short track.
