Curling at the Olympics

Curling

Curling was first played at the I. Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924 . However, for a long time this competition was viewed as a demonstration or demonstration competition, although at the time of the First Olympic Winter Games there was no differentiation between demonstration and original competitions. In February 2006, the IOC decided that curling was an official competition in 1924 and declared Great Britain an Olympic champion. At the Winter Games of 1932 and after a long break again at the Winter Games of 1988 and 1992, curling continued to be held only as a demonstration competition.

Curling for men and women has officially been part of the program of the Winter Olympics since the 1998 Winter Olympics. The mixed double competition has been added to the program as the third curling competition for the 2018 Winter Olympics .

The ice stock sport , which is similar to curling , was also held as a demonstration competition at the Winter Games of 1936 and 1964, but does not count as a demonstration competition for curling.
