Bobsleigh at the Olympic Games

Bobsleigh has beenpart of the program of the Olympic Winter Games almost continuouslysince the first Winter Olympics in 1924 . The only exception is the 1960 Olympic Games , as the organizing committee refused to build a bobsleigh track because only nine countries had announced their participation.

At the first two Winter Games, the bobsleigh teams were free to choose whether they wanted to start with four or five athletes. Due to the weight advantage, everyone in St. Moritz made use of the maximum number of crew members. Since 1932, only four drivers have been allowed to sit in the four-man bobsleigh.

The competitions have been held for men in the four-man bobsleigh since 1924 and in the two-man bobsleigh since 1932. The women's two-man bobsleigh has also been part of the program since the 2002 Winter Olympics .

In 2018, two gold and no silver medals were awarded in the two-man bobsleigh and two silver and no bronze medals in the four-man bobsleigh.
