TTR Pro Snowboarding (TTR = Ticket to Ride) is a snowboard umbrella organization made up of a network of events, athletes, nations and partners from the industry. The TTR was founded in 2002 by pioneers in the snowboard industry. The events of the TTR World Tour are exclusively freestyle competitions. At the end of each competition season, the winners are chosen in the four categories overall (overall ranking), halfpipe , slopestyle and big air , the latter only for men. The TTR is a non-profit organization and combines the TTR World Snowboard Tour , the TTR World Ranking System and the World Snowboarding Championships under one roof.

Goals and organizational structure of the association

The TTR represents the values ​​and culture of snowboarding and has set itself the goal of making the sport the most recognized and well-known progressive sport in the world and promoting the development of snowboarding through fair, open competitions. One would like to give drivers the opportunity to rise from rookie (beginners) to world class.

The President of the TTR is the Swiss Reto Lamm , who won the first Air & Style Contest in 1994 and was ISF World Cup winner on the halfpipe in 1995 . The TTR works closely with the World Snowboarding Federation (WSF), which consists of 38 national snowboard associations. The WSF coordinates all 1-star to 3-star events of the TTR World Tour. In addition, the TTR and WSF jointly own the World Snowboarding Championships , which took place in Oslo , Norway for the first time in February 2012 .

Type of competitions and their categorization

The TTR only organizes freestyle competitions. This means that times are not measured - as is the case with alpine skiing , for example, or distances are measured, as is the case with ski jumping , but rather - as is the case with figure skating , for example - an artful execution of the most complicated jumps possible. The whole thing is judged by a jury of referees who set the points for each driver. At the events, at least one of the following disciplines will be held: Slopestyle, Halfpipe, Big Air and Rail Jams . Also quarterpipe -Competitions are possible. The TTR also gives the organizers the opportunity to create their own innovative formats and setups. Many organizers used to be drivers themselves, such as Andrew Hourmont , organizer of the Air & Style competitions.

TTR Tour competitions were categorized internationally up to the 2013/14 season with the help of one to six stars, with “1Star” the lowest and “6Star” the highest category wat. The higher the category, the higher the status and quality of a competition and the higher the level of the drivers, which results from the 52-week point lists. So you have a clear demarcation between amateur and professional events. Nevertheless, drivers of all levels can take part in the same international tour and are also included in the same TTR world rankings. The TTR Tour winners for each discipline were chosen at the last 6Star event. After the 2013/14 season, the six categories were reduced to four categories (regional, national, international and elite). The elite category competitions are known as the World Snowboard Tour Pro Series. At the end of the season, the overall winners of the Pro Series in the halfpipe and slopestyle disciplines will be honored.

The total prize pool is over $ 2.5 million per season.

TTR rankings

The TTR endeavors to standardize the rating systems for competitions worldwide. There are currently over 3,500 drivers in the rankings. Based on the star categorization of the respective competition and the final result in the respective discipline, the drivers collect points for the ranking list during the tour.

In order to take greater account of the increasing specialization in sport and the individual performance of drivers, TTR has further developed the system: there used to be only an overall ranking list. This has now been divided into separate lists for each of the four disciplines. The tour rankings start from zero at the beginning of each season and contain only the results of the current season. At the end of the season, the winners in each discipline are chosen. The ranking lists are to be distinguished from the point lists.

TTR point lists

In contrast to the ranking lists, the points lists contain the best results of a driver over the last 52 weeks. They are updated weekly on Thursdays and are used to assess whether a driver is entitled to participate in the events of the various star levels. The point lists are also used to send certain drivers directly to the semifinals of 5Star and 6Star events based on their position on the corresponding points list. Both the “Invited Rider Protocol” and the “Qualified Rider Protocol” are based on the TTR points lists.

The average number of points per driver is calculated as follows:
