Mark McMorris (born December 9, 1993 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian snowboarder .

Career

McMorris made his international debut in January 2007 at the FIS race in the halfpipe at the Big White Ski Resort . As 24th, however, he could not land on the front seats. He also remained unsuccessful at the Canadian Championships in Cypress in 2008 and 2009 and at Mt. Tremblant in Québec. Since 2009 he has also participated in competitions on the TTR World Snowboard Tour . In January 2010, he made his debut in the Snowboard World Cup in Québec . In eighth place, he immediately landed in the top ten and also collected his first World Cup points. Just a week later, he achieved his first World Cup victory at the Slopestyle World Cup in Calgary . A month later she finished third at the Burn River Jump in Livigno . At the Canadian Championships in Quebec in 2010, he reached fifth place. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, he came third in Big Air at the Billabong Ante Up in Whistler . At Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck , he won the Big Air competition. He finished the season in fourth place in the overall tour standings.

The following season McMorris won in slopestyle at the Burton New Zealand Open in Cardrona and in the big air competition at the O'Neill Evolution in Davos . At the Winter X Games 2012 he won gold in slopestyle and big air. In February 2012, he finished third at the Burn River Jump in Livigno . A month later he won silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games Europe 2012 . In the 2012/13 season he won the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge in Slopestyle and Big Air. At the following Snowboard World Championships in 2013 in Stoneham , the Canadian won the silver medal in Slopestyle. A week later he won silver in Big Air and gold in Slopestyle at the Winter X Games . This was followed by a second place in slopestyle at the Burton European Open in Laax and a first place at the Burton US Open 2013 in Vail . In March 2013, as in the previous year, he won silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games Europe . He finished the season in sixth place in the overall tour standings, third place in the big air standings and first place in the slopestyle standings.

In the 2013/14 season McMorris won in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and at the Burton US Open in Vail . In January 2014 he won silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia's Sochi McMorris won the bronze medal in the inaugural competition in Slopestyle . In January 2015, he won gold in the Slopestyle and Big Air competition at the 2015 Winter X Games . A week later, he finished second in slopestyle at the Burton European Open in Laax . At the 2015 Burton US Open in Vail , he finished second in slopestyle. In April 2015, he won in slopestyle at The Shred Show in Blackcomb . At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he took second place at the Air & Style in Beijing . This was followed by two victories in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and at the Laax Open 2016 in Laax. At the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen , he won the silver medal in Big Air and the gold medal in Slopestyle. After third place at the Big Air World Cup in Milan and fifth place at the Air & Style in Beijing at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won Big Air at the World Cup at the Alpensia Resort and in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge . In January 2017 he finished second in the Slopestyle at the Laax Open and World Cup in Laax and won bronze medals in Big Air and in Slopestyle at the Winter X Games 2017 . At the following World Cup in Québec , he triumphed in Big Air and took second place in Slopestyle. He won the Freestyle World Cup and the Big Air World Cup with it. In the Slopestyle World Cup he came in third place. In March 2017 he won the Slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail and won the gold medal in Big Air at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell . He also finished sixth there in Slopestyle.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, McMorris won the Air & Style in Beijing and Slopestyle at the Banana Open in the Wanlong Ski Resort . At the Winter X Games 2018 , he finished fourth in Big Air and won the bronze medal in slopestyle. In February 2018 he won the bronze medal in Slopestyle at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and came tenth in Big Air. In early March 2018, he won the slopestyle competition at the Burton US Open. At the X-Games Norway 2018 in Fornebu he was sixth in Big Air. The following season he was third in Slopestyle at the Burton US Open and third in Big Air at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler and in Slopestyle at the Total Fight in Grandvalira second each time. At the Winter X Games 2019 , she won the silver medal in Big Air and the gold medal in Slopestyle. At the following World Championships in Park City , she won the silver medal in slopestyle. At the end of August 2019 she won fifth place in Big Air at the X-Games Norway in Fornebu. After finishing second in Big Air at the World Cup in Modena , he won the silver medal in Big Air and the X at the Winter X Games 2020 -Games Norway 2020 in Hafjell the silver medal in Slopestyle and the gold medal in Big Air.
