Fornebu

Fornebu is a peninsula between Lysaker and Snarøya in the municipality of Bærum in Norway .
Fornebu is located between the Lysakerfjord and the Holtekil - inlet ; the Snarøya peninsula connects to the south. To the north of Fornebu is the listed Fonebu mansion (Fornebu hovedgård).
The name Fornebu is etymologically composed of the Norwegian male name Forni (the old man) and the word búð from Old Norse , which means something like shack or simple residence or residence.
Due to the close proximity to Oslo , this is an industrially heavily used area. Even after the closure of Oslo-Fornebu Airport , which was located here, major airlines continue to have their headquarters on Fornebu.
Fornebu is now mainly used as a housing estate and as an industrial and commercial area. After the airport was closed, a major project began to attract companies in the fields of information technology and telecommunications . Telenor, the largest company, is based here. The Telenor Arena football and event hall , where the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 took place, is also located on Fornebu.
In May 2018 the snowboard and ski competitions of the Oslo X Games were held in Fronebu .
