Jamie Louise Anderson (born September 13, 1990 in South Lake Tahoe , California ) is an American snowboarder . She starts in freestyle disciplines .

Career

Anderson has participated in the TTR World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2005 . Her first podium came in January 2006 at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix on Mount Bachelor in Slopestyle. At the following Winter X Games she won bronze in slopestyle. In March 2006, she finished third at the Burton US Open at the Stratton Mountain Resort .

At the beginning of the 2006/07 season she won third place on the halfpipe and first place in slopestyle at the Abominable Snowjam on Mount Hood . This was followed by further victories in slopestyle at the Billabong Slopestyle Jam in New Zealand and at the Roxy Chicken Jam in Kaprun . At the O´Neill Evolution 2007 in Davos she won on the quarter pipe. At the Honda Session in Vail , she came second in the Railjam. At the end of January 2007 she won gold in slopestyle at the Winter X Games . At the end of the season, she finished first at the Burton US Open at Stratton Mountain Resort and second at the Roxy Chicken Jam USA in Park City in slopestyle. She finished the season in second place in the overall world tour standings.

In the 2007/08 season, Anderson won in slopestyle at the Australian Open in Perisher Blue , the Burton European Open in Laax and the Roxy Chicken Jam USA in Mammoth . She took second place in slopestyle at the Roxy Chicken Jam in Kaprun , the Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open in Bandai , the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Killington and the Burton US Open at Stratton Mountain Resort . At the season highlight, the Winter X Games 2008 , she again won gold in slopestyle. She finished the season in first place in the overall tour standings. At the beginning of the following season, she won the slopestyle and halfpipe at the Burton New Zealand Open . This was followed by further victories at the Billabong SnowStock 08 in Big Air competition and in slopestyle at the Burton Australian Open in the Perisher Blue . She also reached third place on the halfpipe there. In early 2009 she won in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour on Mount Snow and Northstar-at-Tahoe . At the Nissan X-Trail Asian Open 2009 in Bandai , she came second in slopestyle. In the overall tour standings, she came third in the season.

In August 2009, Anderson won again at the Burton New Zealand Open Snowboarding Championships in Slopestyle and Big Air competition at Billabong BroDown. In the same month she drove her first FIS World Cup race in Cardrona , which she finished in 13th place on the halfpipe. At the Winter X Games 2010 she won silver in slopestyle. In February 2010 she won the Winter Dew Tour on Mount Snow and took first place in the slopestyle classification on this tour. At the end of the season she won the Slopestyle at the Roxy Chicken Jam USA and came third at the Burton US Open. She finished the season in fifth place overall in the World Tour total. In the 2010/11 season she won in slopestyle at the Burton New Zealand Open Snowboarding Championships, the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and Killington , the O'Neill Evolution in Davos , the Burton European Open in Laax , the Burton Canadian Open in Calgary , The Oakley Arctic Challenge in Oslo and the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth . At the Winter X Games 2011 in Aspen , she won bronze in slopestyle. In March 2011 she won gold in slopestyle at the Winter X Games Europe 2011 in Tignes . At the end of the season she took first place in the overall tour ranking.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, Anderson won the Billabong Slopestyle in Wanaka , the New Zealand Winter Games and for the fourth time in a row the slopestyle competition at the Burton New Zealand Open. At the Winter X Games 2012 and the Winter X Games Europe 2012 , she won gold in slopestyle. She also won the Burton Canadian Open in Calgary , the Roxy Snow Pro 2012 in Saalbach , the Burton European Open in Laax and the Burton US Open 2012 in the Stratton Mountain Resort . At the Snowboard World Championships 2012 in Oslo , she achieved 15th place on the halfpipe and second place in slopestyle. She finished the season in second place in the overall world tour standings. The following season she won the Dew Tour - Mountain Championships in Breckenridge and the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain . This was also a FIS World Cup race and thus her first World Cup victory. As in the previous year, she won gold in slopestyle at the 2013 Winter X Games . In February 2013, she finished second in slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail . At the Winter X Games Europe 2013 in Tignes , she won silver in the Slopestyle. She came second in the Tourlopestyle and FIS Slopestyle Classes.

At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, Anderson won her second World Cup victory in Cardrona . This was followed by victories at the Burton High Fives in Cardrona , the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and the Burton US Open in Vail . In January 2014 she won silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games 2014 . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Russia , Anderson won gold in the first-ever slopestyle competition in February. She is the first female Olympic champion in this discipline. She finished the season in first place in the Tourlopestyle ranking. The following season she won the slopestyle at The Mile High in the Perisher Blue , the Burton High Fives and the Dew Tour Mountain Championships. In January 2015, she won silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games in Aspen . A week later, she took second place in slopestyle at the Burton European Open in Laax . At the 2015 Burton US Open in Vail , she won in slopestyle. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , she won her third World Cup victory in Cardrona . In January 2016 she won the Laax Open in Laax. In the same month she won the silver medal in slopestyle at the Winter X Games in Aspen . In February 2016 she won Big Air at the Jamboree and World Cup in Québec and in Slopestyle at the World Cup in Bokwang Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang . At the X-Games Oslo 2016 in Oslo she was sixth in Big Air. In March 2016 she won gold medals in Slopestyle and Big Air in Slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail and at the 2016 Snowboard World Championships in Yabuli She ended the season in first place in the Freestyle World Cup, the Big Air World Cup and the Slopestyle World Cup. After first place in Big Air at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain and third place in slopestyle at the Laax Open 2017 and also World Cup in the 2016/17 season, she won the silver medal in slopestyle at the 2017 Winter X Games . She also came fourth in the Big Air competition there. In February 2017 she won in slopestyle at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and at the same time World Cup in Mammoth and took second place in slopestyle at the World Cup in Québec . In early March 2017, she finished second in slopestyle at the Burton US Open. At the following X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell , she won the silver medal in slopestyle. She also came in sixth place in the Big Air competition there.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season she won the Slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona and took second place in Slopestyle on the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge. In January 2018 she won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth in slopestyle and won the bronze medal in Big Air and the gold medal in slopestyle at the Winter X Games . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the 27-year-old won the gold medal in slopestyle on February 12, just like four years earlier in Sochi. In Big Air, which was held for the first time as part of the Olympic snowboard competition, she won the silver medal on February 22nd. In early March 2018, she won the slopestyle competition at the Burton US Open. In the following year she won the bronze medal in Big Air at the Winter X Games 2019 and the bronze medal in Slopestyle at the Snowboard World Championships 2019 in Park City . In the X-Games Norway in 2019 in Fornebu she finished fifth in the Big Air. In season 2019/20 they won the World Cup in Mammoth and at the Burton US Open each Slopestyle Competition and took in the Winter X Games in 2020 , the Gold medal in slopestyle. In March 2020 she was sixth in slopestyle and fourth in big air at the X-Games Norway in Hafjell .

Commitment to climate protection

In addition to her athletic career, Anderson is also known for her commitment to the climate crisis . She supports the climate protection organization Protect Our Winters (POW). She dedicated her bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup to POW to highlight the increasing threat to winter sports from global warming .
