Silje Norendal (born September 1, 1993 in Kongsberg ) is a Norwegian snowboarder . She is active in the disciplines of slopestyle , halfpipe and snowboard cross , as well as for the Norwegian sports club Kongsberg IF .

Career

Norendal has been participating in the TTR World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2007 . She won her first victory in March 2008 on the halfpipe at the Evolver Tour in Kongsberg . She drove her first FIS World Cup race in February 2009 in Cypress Mountain , which she finished in 33rd place in the halfpipe competition. At the Winter X Games Europe 2010 in Tignes , she took fifth place in the slopestyle competition. In the 2010/11 season she won the Slopestyle at the Rip Curl Sista Sessions in Mayrhofen and on the halfpipe at the Swag Pipe Jam in Tryvann and took third place at the Burton US Open at Stratton Mountain Resort . In March 2011 she won silver in slopestyle at the Winter X Games Europe in Tignes. At the Snowboard World Championships in Oslo in 2012 she came 21st in slopestyle. In March 2013 she won the gold medal in slopestyle at the Winter X Games Europe .

At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, she won the slopestyle at The Mile High in Perisher Blue . Later in the season she finished third at the Burton High Fives in Cardrona , at the Dew Tour iON Mountain Championships in Breckenridge and at the Community Cup in Keystone . At the Winter X Games 2014 in Aspen , she won gold in slopestyle. In February 2014 she came in her first Olympic participation in Sochi in the first Slopestyle competition on the 11th place. She finished the season in second place in the Tour Slopestyle classification. At the Winter X Games 2015 , she repeated the victory in slopestyle. The following year she was fourth in slopestyle at the 2016 Winter X Games and fourth at the Laax Open. In the 2016/17 season she came in the World Cup with three top ten placements, including third place in slopestyle on Kreischberg and 19th place in the Freestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2017 , she was fifth in slopestyle. In March 2017 she won the gold medal in Big Air at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell . She also took eighth place there in slopestyle. At the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada , she won the bronze medal in Big Air.

In the 2017/18 season, Norendal achieved sixth place in the Freestyle World Cup and Big Air World Cup and fourth place in the Slopestyle World Cup , with third place in Big Air in Copper Mountain and second in slopestyle on the Alpe di Siusi . At the end of January 2018 she was fourth in the Big Air at the Winter X Games and sixth in the Big Air at the X Games Norway in Fornebu in May 2018. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, it was held for the first time as part of the Olympic snowboard competitions Big Air she reached sixth place behind Anna Gasser on February 22nd and fourth place in slopestyle. In the 2018/19 season she achieved three top ten placements in the World Cup, including third place in the Slopestyle at Kreischberg and first in Laax , eighth place in the Freestyle World Cup and fourth place in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2019 , she was fifth in slopestyle. At the following World Championships in Park City , she won the silver medal in slopestyle.

In 2011 she became Norwegian champion on the halfpipe and in slopestyle. In April 2014 she won the Norwegian Championships in Slopestyle and Big Air competition. In 2015 she became national champion in slopestyle. In 2017 and 2018 she became Norwegian champion in slopestyle and big air.

Since July 2018 Norendal has been engaged to the hockey player Alexander Bonsaksen (* 1987).
